Publically Talking About Our Story
Once I heard the advice," It's not what happens to you in life, but how you react to that challenge." How true this statement is. With our story, it feels that there is a greater responsibility to share what we have learned in spite of the criticism of others who think that they have all of the answers, non-believers and more often than not - the "lucky crowd" who have an open mind and support us. I guess it's not as if people hear about a story like this and is easily accepted because this hasn't directly happened to the person reading about it or listening via the airwaves. Hollywood has also twisted the public's reality of hauntings to a huge degree. This isn't a seasonal problem and people often forget that when I go off of the air after a radio broadcast that we are still living in the house and sometimes have to deal with the "aftermath" of attacks for talking about the truth regarding these forces of darkness that really do exist and try to destroy. For myself, if our story can help one person out there, then it was worth talking about. There has to be more of a reason for talking about this and not just the scary details of our now six year ordeal. I honestly would have traded all of this years ago for a peaceful night's sleep.
Reflecting on 2003: Not a day goes by that I wish there would have been more information out there for families dealing with this unexplained world and the children too small to understand or express what is happening to them. The most helpless feeling for any parent is not knowing how to fight something that you cannot see and not successfully fixing what has gone wrong. You do the best you can with what you have to work with and learn from your mistakes.
I just tell our story "like it is" and hope for the best with the "critics". I find that the best support comes from those who have walked in your shoes.
